Liverpool Wedding photography, gay wedding

How did you or your partner propose?

Mike proposed to me at our friends’ wedding in South Africa. He got their permission and did it after the party got started. My friend led me over to a little jetty on the edge of a lake and he was there with the rings. Then he cried and I said yes!

What made you choose your venue?

We wanted a church, somewhere with a sense of occasion and a bit of history. The Unitarian Church on Ullet Road ticked all three of those boxes really. Mike had been to a wedding there before and said he liked the vibe so we booked an appointment with Viki, our wedding co-ordinator and didn’t look back.

Tell me about your theme?

We didn’t really have a ‘theme’ as such. We’re both into plants and nature so all of our stationary had trees on or flowers on. Our groomsmaids all ended up wearing green and we had our reception in the Watering Can which is full of flowers all year around.

Tell me about your suits, what made you go with that colour/style etc?

I my friend Natalie at Brides by Natalie if she would make me something to wear. I knew she did bride’s dresses but she and her team met with me to work out I wanted and took it from there. I wanted something distinctive rather than a fancy suit hence the royal blue jacket with the gold epaulets. Mike wanted a smart suit and went to a tailor and picked our his fabric himself.

What were your favourite moments/memories from the day?

By far my favourite moment was the ceremony. Rev. Phil was great and so were all of our readers. My absolute favourite though was when the Sense of Sound choir came out singing Euphoria by Loreen. This was a surprise which Mike did not know about so I was keen to see his reaction and I wasn’t disappointed!

Any advice or tips to any future couples?
Do exactly what you want and do not feel any regret about doing so. You will inevitably disappoint someone down the line but it’s your day and you will not be able to please everyone; so do what is right for the both of you as a couple.

What made you choose Lynette Matthews Photography?

We’d seen Lynette in action at our friends’ wedding after we got engaged. We loved how she handled the group photos so we booked a consultation and knew immediately that we wanted her to do our wedding. She was informative, hassle free and a complete pleasure to work with on the day. We made the right choice!
