Amy & Jake

In March 2019 I had the pleasure of capturing Amy & Jake's wedding.

Now, it is a known fact that I love my job and I get excited before every wedding but I'm always excited for different reasons and every wedding is unique and different (as are the couples). Not only was I at a new venue/location with a fab couple but I was capturing a wedding of a very lovely lady whose father I worked with on a film set back in my TV & Film days. I knew I was going to be in for a treat the moment I met Amy & Jake; we instantly clicked.

Here's what they had to say...

Tell me your proposal story..

Our proposal story was in Windermere for my birthday and Jake proposed at our hotel whilst playing your song by Elton John.

Why did you choose this venue for your wedding?

Parklands is simply beautiful both inside and out. It had wild deer, bridal prep suite and the option to marry in the main house. The pavilion had all facilities needed including the dance floor without all your guest Disappearing off. Despite viewing many other venues we kept being drawn back to our first venue visit, which was parklands.

Tell me your wedding vision, theme, colours, flowers, accessories etc

Our wedding vision was simple but elegant without over spending. Our theme was places we’ve been together including the places we are both from with blue and grey as our main colours. My veil was borrowed from my cousin’s wife. My jewellery, shoes and tiara was from Debenhams all very simple but beautiful. My bangle bracelet was my something new from my dad, which was from Pandora it had a simple clasp with jewels in.

So my flowers I had a hand tied round bouquet with ivory roses, spray roses, blue thistles, gypsophila and foliage. These flowers were in our table arrangement and bridesmaids bouquets. My younger bridesmaid had a ivory rose wand. All the groomsmen and parents had buttonholes. These had a thistle and an ivory rose. The aim of the flowers was a simple, beautiful and most of all natural feel

What was your first dance song choice and why?

Our first dance song was thinking out loud by Ed Sheeran. The reasoning behind the song is it’s one our favourites. The words are meaningful and people can join in towards the end of the dance.

Tell me about your wedding dress

My wedding dress was the opposite of what I thought I wanted. It was a boob tube a line gown. The dress shimmers in the light and looks beautiful both off and on. It was very comfortable for a boob tube. The dress was surprisingly light. I bought a belt to be attached to the dress to make it my own. I honestly felt the most beautiful I’ve ever felt in my entire life.

What were your favourite parts of the day?

My favourite parts of the day were seeing my dads face when he saw me in my dress for the first time. When I walked down the aisle towards my future husband with of all our family and friends present. Sitting at the top table looking around at all our guests smiling and enjoying themselves, which continued to the evening. Thankfully getting some beautiful pictures outside, as the grounds of the venue are stunning. Since it was raining that morning. Finally our first dance as it was personal to us and looking back at the pictures our guests seemed to be having a lovely time also.

What is your advice to future couples planning their wedding?

My advice would be to produce a Pinterest board it’s always good to get inspiration from others. Always keep on top of finances. I checked ours each month to make sure we wasn’t over spending. We produced a website on wixsite for all our guests to RSVP on and all the details about the day including transport links, local hotels if they didn’t wish to stay at the venue etc. Most of all enjoy every second of it as it goes so quick.

Here's a few of my favorite images and moments from their day:
