Andrew & Mihaela
A West Tower Wedding
What can I say about Mihaela & Andrew? I have totally been looking forward to this moment since I met this pair! They have been a big support of my work since day one. I have had the honour of sharing their journey from the beginning of their relationship, 4 years ago, when we did a couple shoot in Liverpool.
It's fair to say that I laughed and cried with them as they took their next chapter of their story together. Thank you for allowing me to capture and share such precious moments with you.
Tell us your proposal story...
Family is a massive part and means the world to both Mihaela and I. Andrew proposed at the family home at Christmas in 2016 which was when we managed to get all of the family together. The Christmas decorations in the family home of 35 years were an amazing setting to propose. The house was a similar type of style to the venue that we got married in.
Andrew proposed with a watch as opposed to a conventional ring. The watch signifies the importance of time and whatever time we have in life I wanted to spend it with my perfect partner. It was a beautiful day with a perfect back drop with all the most important people in our life with all the moments perfectly captured by Lynette..
Why did you choose this venue for your wedding?
We loved the venue the first time we’ve seen it. The building and the outdoor space was fantastic with a mixture of both classical elegance however light and bright. They allowed us to stamp our own little marks on the venue making the day all the more special. We also loved that we had accommodation available for the family and friends. The rooms in the main building were fantastic and it was great as we had all venue (main building, the external accommodation, the outdoors) for ourselves for more than 24h. And we had everything in one place- hair and make up, getting ready, ceremony, me, speeches and reception, pictures taken etc
Tell me your wedding vision, theme, colours, flowers, accessories etc
Even if the wedding was in autumn, our theme was more of a spring one with pastels colours. Pink and duck egg blue were the primary colours that we used mostly pink for the flowers, groom and best man ties, the decorations in the room. We also used gold and ivory as it was the prefect combination for such a classy and elegant venue. We bought most of our wedding decorations and hired someone to decorate the venue on the wedding day. We had great satisfaction for planning this wedding on our own.
We also had a pianist that played our favourite songs and this was a beautiful memory for us.
What was your first dance song choice and why?
“Ryann Darling - I choose you”
Why-because we loved the lyrics, are perfect for the first dance. This song was wrote by the artist for her husband and she played it for the first time on her wedding day as a surprise for her husband the song describes finding your perfect soul mate and growing old together while conquering any adversities that life throughs at us. Living life with no regrets and loving each other unconditionally.
It was also simple enough to try and dance as we both are not great dancers.
Tell me about your wedding dress...
I was glad to find such a beautiful wedding dress. I didn’t like the process of buying the dress as it was so hard work to find something that I really liked. I always said I’m not to picky however I didn’t like any of the dresses I’ve tried until I found The One. My dress was 40’s style, ivory vintage. When I tried it on, I knew it was the one. I didn’t believe in “the one” feeling until I felt it. I still think it was the best choice I ever made. I remember I was with my mother in law and she had tears in her eyes when she saw me and when I walked out of the dressing room I made a comment of how elegant and classy this looks and apparently it was the first time I said it. Later on I took my mum to the shop and she cried when she saw me all dressed up . Andrew had tears in his eyes when he saw me walking on the aisle. He never saw the dress before and said i couldn’t have picked a perfect a perfect dress, he loved it. Everyone loved it.
What were your favourite parts of the day?
Oh we had a fantastic day. We had some funny moments and beautiful memories. Some funny ones, the groom is pulling the curtains down at parents house in the morning of the wedding while the videographer was trying to get some shots,
grooms mother gets lost while driving to the venue and gets there later but on time for hair
and makeup before the wedding started.
The groom had an expensive champagne over £100 to offer to his best men, however the bride forgot about it and put it along with other £7 bottles of prosceco and by mistake served the expensive one to the hair dressers and all the girls. This is something that the groom always mentioned to everyone as a joke however he didn’t find it funny at the time.
Oh and loads of others where best men are taking the groom for a dance and pick him up in the air
I would say our favourite part of the day was the ceremony, so many emotions from everyone and it is just something we will always remember
What is your advice to future couples planning their wedding?
Start planning as early as you can, it is a lot of detail that needs planning and a lot of browsing around for the best deals, therefore plan as early as you can and negotiate as much as you can. Also try and do it on your own as it is one of the best achievement. In this way you can also be sure it will be how you want it and no one will have any right to interfere as a lot of people will try and “help” and give their option which is not always the best.
Why did you choose Lynette Matthews Photography?
we were so happy that Lynette had the availability for us. We loved her work since day one. We previously used her photography services for anniversaries, gatherings, special moments in our life and we have been so pleased with her work that we knew we had to have her with us on our wedding day and it was the best choice. Lynette has been so flexible and gave us appropriate advice when need it. She has offered us a fantastic package and a lot of her time and patience. She has been so helpful post wedding when we have had our pictures to help compose our perfect albums. We would strongly recommend!
