Storrs Hall Wedding Photography

I must start by giving Gaby & Jack a HUGE shout out because it was a VERY windy day but they completely embraced the dramatic winds and ventured down to the Temple of Hereos without a moments hesitation. We didn't stay for long as I was terrified they were going to be whisked away.

It was my first time at Storrs Hall capturing Gaby & Jack's special day and my word, it did not disappoint. The grade II listed house is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Lake District, the interior of the house retains the original Georgian and Victorian architecture which oozes comfort, relaxation and lots of character, making it (in my eyes) a photographers dream.

Here is what Jack & Gaby had to say about their special day...

What made you choose your wedding venue?

"We wanted to choose somewhere in the northwest for several reasons; Gaby and I are both from Southport and we both used to go on holiday to the Lakes a lot with our families when we were younger before we met, so it represents a special place for both of us. It also meant that a lot of our family and friends could reach the wedding easily. When we visited Storrs Hall with Gaby's parents we were all absolutely stunned and decided then and there that we had to have it as it's one of the most beautiful locations in the country!."

Tell me about your theme, colours and/or style for the day.

"We went for a sage/blush colour scheme, as we felt it was soft and elegant to compliment the natural beauty of Storrs Hall."

What was your favourite moments/memories of the day?

"It's hard to pin down one moment! It was one of, if not the most, enjoyable weekend of my life. The actual ceremony was far more entertaining than formal ceremonies have any right to be - we were both laughing throughout and Gaby actually got the giggles. We both loved hearing all the speeches and we were so impressed with how fun they were, and we also loved the first dance as it went much better than any of our practice runs. Thankfully as we had the venue booked for the whole weekend with most guests staying in the hotel, we had plenty of time to catch up with everyone and even managed to squeeze in a bit of garden cricket (when it wasn't too windy or rainy)."

Any tips or advice for future couples planning their special day?

"I would advise the groom to bring two shirts - in case you sweat during the ceremony, especially if it's a summer wedding!

Try to book your suppliers as early as you can as you will save money and have time to accommodate for inevitable cock ups, cancellations, or double bookings!

On the actual day, try to find some time to be alone with your partner so you can just take a big breath, then get back to partying!"

A few words about Lynette Matthews Photography

"Lynette is an amazing person and such fun to have around. The whole bridal party were really relaxed getting ready in the morning with Lynette, and she mostly let us do our own thing with a few directed snaps. After the ceremony she expertly commanded all the group shots and fun group shots, and even stayed on later than planned to get the dance floor shots she wanted. We are so grateful for Lynette for making our day so streamlined and fun, and the photos are beautiful."
