"Lynette captured our wedding on the 24th May this year, as well as our engagement shoot a few months earlier. On both days, Lynette was an incredible photographer, making us feel so relaxed and comfortable, which is not an easy feat for two cameras shy people!
She fit so perfectly into our wedding day, making everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera, and getting us some incredible photos on a short timeline!
Everyone has commented how great the picture are, and we are over the moon with our photos! Absolutely incredible memories of our day!
We also have to shout out to Ilona, the content creator who works in conjunction with Lynette. She did an incredible job of capturing moments during our day and has made us some amazing short videos to look back on! If you are thinking about adding Ilona to your wedding photo package, we absolutely couldn’t recommend her enough!
Thank you Lynette and Ilona for capturing our day so perfectly!"
Ellie & Michael’s wedding at The Oak Tree of Peover in Cheshire was the perfect blend of relaxed elegance and heartfelt moments. Set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, The Oak Tree of Peover is a beautifully light and airy oak-framed wedding venue, surrounded by lush gardens and woodlands. Ellie & Michael booked me to capture all the magic with my half-day photography package, from the morning preparations through to the speeches.
One of the most memorable touches of the day was a surprise from the groom’s mum who brought along a life-size cardboard cut-out of their furry friend who sadly couldn't make it but his appearance in card form still made everyone smile
(and made it into a few photos too!).
The lovely Ilona was also on hand as their content creator, capturing all the behind-the-scenes moments while I focused on documenting the genuine emotion and beautiful details of the day.
Ellie & Michael's wedding felt effortlessly joyful from start to finish, and The Oak Tree of Peover provided the most stunning setting for it all. Here is what they had to say about their day:
1. What made you choose your wedding venue?
On the day we went to see the Oak Tree, we had seen 10+ venues, and none of them had been quite right - we didn’t think we would have been so picky! But walking into the Oak Tree, we knew we had been right to wait!
We loved that the space felt intimate but not cramped, and the amount of light that came in from the huge floor to ceiling windows. We knew we wanted a venue with a lovely outdoor space, and the Oak Tree had just that. We also loved the greenery that is scattered throughout the venue, giving it a really whimsical vibe.
The team were also fantastic from initial meeting onwards, giving us full faith that they would be exceptional on the day, which absolutely was the case!
2. Tell me about your theme, colours and/or style for the day.
Even though we had a May wedding, we wanted to have almost autumnal colours, which we thought matched to our greenery filled venue the best!
We chose a colour palette of burnt orange, forest green and gold, which we think worked really well in the space.
We wanted to have lots of florals and greenery, so opted to have a background arch for the ceremony, as well as bud vases and candles throughout. This was then replicated for the wedding breakfast, with the addition of some taller candles to add some height.
We absolutely loved the theme we chose, and have to thank Willow and Fig Cheshire for really brining our vision to life!
3. What was your favourite moments/memories of the day?
Our favourite moment of the day was the time just after the ceremony, when it was just the two of us and we got to have a private moment to take in that we were married! It was such a special moment for the two of us, and we are so glad we made sure to have 5 minutes to ourselves to take it all in right after the ceremony.
We also had an incredible moment at the end of the night, when all our guests joined us in a big circle on the dance floor to belt out Queen’s “Somebody to Love” - definitely recommend choosing a big song to finish your night in the most special way!
4. Any tips or advice for future couples planning their special day?
For couples who are still in the planning stages, we would definitely recommend planning in some time into the day where it will just be the two of you. Everyone at the wedding will want to chat to you both, which is the most lovely feeling, but make sure that you take some time to spend some time privately together to enjoy the special feeling of being newly married!
Also for brides - make sure you have white chalk in your emergency kit for any wedding morning spills onto dresses!!!
5. What made you choose Lynette Matthews Photography
Choosing Lynette was one of the easiest decisions we made for the wedding!
We met Lynette at a wedding fair, and immediately we knew we would feel comfortable being photographed by her, as she has such a kind and calming presence. We were both a little nervous about being photographed, as neither of us are comfortable in front of the camera, but we knew Lynette would do her best to make us feel confident (which she did amazingly on both the engagement shoot and wedding day).
We also loved Lynette’s colourful style, because you can see the fun and the love in every photo she takes. We knew we wanted a few group shots but also some candids of our friends and family, and Lynette delivered a perfect mix of both for us.
We are so grateful for the vibes and support Lynette brought to our day, and we wish everyone could have such a fun and understanding wedding photographer!!
