A Rivington Hall Barn Wedding

Nestled in the picturesque Lancashire countryside, Rivington Hall Barn provided the perfect backdrop for Nicole and Henry’s August wedding, blending rustic charm with elegant touches. Their big day was full of LOTS of laughter, dancing the occasional stripping & plenty of heartwarming moments, with a special appearance from their adorable dogs who added a playful touch to the celebration (I especially loved the nod to all the doggies in their life on Nicole & Henrys wedding breakfast stationary).

What truly made the day unforgettable, though, was the brilliant guest participation during the wedding breakfast, wonderfully hosted by Ryan Smith. I was constantly laughing and throughout the wedding breakfast not knowing which way to turn to capture the next unpredictable, hilarious moment. I've also got to give a shout out to the team at Rivington Hall Barn, they are simply the best, nothing is too much trouble and they will help make your day run smoothly.

Nicole & Henry's wedding was filled with so much joy, which is why I’m so excited to share the beautiful moments from their special day.

What made you choose your wedding venue?

"We wanted a venue that we had entirely to ourselves for the day so we could feel relaxed around our family and friends without worrying about other members of the public. The more we looked at venues we realised we also wanted a big open space without split areas so no one had to miss out on the fun by being in a separate room we were all together for the full day. Character was important to me, I wanted to be in the countryside with beautiful views in a venue with beautiful features and you can’t get much better than Rivington with its gorgeous traditional beams."

Tell me about your theme, colours and/or style for the day.

"We wanted a very natural and rustic theme to go with our countryside Rivington wedding. So we went for creams and greens with a splash of sunflowers. Our flowers were based off loved ones we had lost, with sunflowers being my grandads favourite flower and roses being Henry’s grandmas flower, so to have their special flowers scattered throughout our bouquets and decor meant we got to share our day with them. We had our flower girls in matching white satin dresses to mine and the boys in countryside stone tweed suits. The bridesmaids were in a pale fossil green and all the natural colours went beautiful with the greenery of Rivington and allowed the sunflowers to add a splash of colour to our perfect summer wedding."

What was your favourite moments/memories of the day?

"It is so hard to pick favourite moments when your entire day is just perfect. Special moments for me included my dad coming to see me in my dress for the first time and then the beautiful walk down the long aisle at Rivington to an emotional Henry at the end of the aisle. However if we were to choose one of the best parts of our day it had to be ‘Ryan Smiths’ Bongos Bingo! The way every single one of our guests were involved and loved every second of it meant everything to us! From dancing on the chairs, to blow up horses, shirtless guests and of course my 80year old nan in the dance off, gave us memories to last a lifetime and the pictures Lynette captured allows us to relive our favourite part of our day every day!"

Any tips or advice for future couples planning their special day?

"The planning is worth it! I know how stressful planning a wedding is whilst working full time and ‘trying’ to keep to the budget. Stay organised it makes life so much easier for your suppliers! I gave Rivington a wedding binder of all the information they needed for the day and they loved it and our day ran perfectly to schedule. The long hours of sitting at the laptop making sure you had every single detailed planned was stressful, but when your special day arrives and all the plans come together i promise it’s worth it.

However they are only worth it if you pick the right suppliers and these incredibly talented people are the people that keep your day as your dream day! So pick carefully, your most important 3 suppliers are: Your venue with their staff, Your Photographer and Your Dj/Host. Spend the time going to wedding fairs having meetings and getting to know your vendors, or I’ll make it easy for you and just pick Rivington Hall Barn with Lynette to capture your day and Ryan Smith to host and keep the tunes coming and… don’t forget to include Bongos Bingo!"

What made you choose Lynette Matthews Photography?

"Her Personality! Lynette is the most loveliest down to earth person who truly makes you feel so comfortable it’s almost like you’ve known her your whole life. Myself and Henry hate having our photos taken and suddenly Lynette steps in and our photos looks like we’ve just come out of a wedding magazine. Her approach is very natural and you almost don’t notice she’s there until you need help with something and then she’s always there! Her pictures are phenomenal and the amount of guests on our day that commented how lovely and bubbly she was and always had the biggest smile on her face made all of our guests also feel at ease. We couldn’t recommend anyone else to capture your special day! "
