The Aviary Wedding Photography

Sian and Mathew’s wedding at The Aviary in Ormskirk was brimming with vibrant colours and personal touches that reflected their shared love for Disney and Harry Potter. Sian, a devoted fan of Beauty and the Beast, brought her favorite movie’s enchanting charm to life with subtle nods throughout the day (check out her hand painted shoes and accessories by Ear all about it), while the couple’s mutual affection for all things whimsical created an atmosphere straight out of a fairytale.

It was my first time photographing a wedding at The Aviary, and I was instantly captivated by its rural setting and picturesque surroundings. The venue’s team was an absolute pleasure to work with, ensuring every detail of the day was seamless. And I couldn’t resist taking a moment to meet the venue’s cute resident donkeys, who added even more charm to this unforgettable celebration! Sian and Mathew’s love story was truly a joy to capture, here is what they said about their special day.

What made you choose The Aviary, Ormskirk?

"The Aviary is a beautiful, intimate, rustic style venue set in the countryside, with a beautiful garden area, which is exactly what we were looking for. It is a venue that allows you to make your wedding your own, which was also very important to us. The wonderful wedding coordinators, Heather and Sarah, we're so helpful during our journey, and all the staff were incredible on the day."

Tell me about your theme, colours and/or style for the day.

"Colourful, rustic, relaxed, fun. We wished for beautiful wildflowers and special touches based on things we love individually and as a couple ... Disney, Harry Potter, the Beatles, and many more. We wished for a fun, relaxed day without specific formalities."

What was your favourite moments/memories of the day?

Sian - "the reveal with my dad, seeing Matt at the end of the aisle, and my cousin reading my late grandad's speech that he wrote for me."

Matt - "seeing Sian for the first time, spending time with our fur babies, and dancing."

Any tips or advice for future couples planning their special day?

"Research. Be super organised. Meet with suppliers/talk with suppliers where possible to ensure they're the right fit for you."

What made you choose Lynette Matthews Photography?

"We wished to meet with Lynette as she photographed two of Sian's friends' weddings. Sian also loved her profile online and had a feeling she would be her and Matt's kind of person - Disney lover, animal lover, nature lover, lover of colourful weddings. Then when we met Lynette in person we loved her immediately - she is friendly, warm, bubbly, helpful, and just a gorgeous person inside and out! She was a dream to have around on the day."
